Lunchtime concert with Soprano Michelle Norton and accompanist James Banville at St. Mary's Church, Hinckley on Wednesday 2nd October at 1pm lasting 50 minutes
The current season of lunchtime concerts at St. Mary's Church, Hinckley continues with Soprano Michelle Norton, the Musical Director of the Hinckley Choral Union, and her accompanist James Banville presenting a concert of light classical music and songs from musical theatre. Michelle achieved Grade 8 Distinction in Singing. She is also a private singing teacher passionate about helping people achieving a musical goal. She has held choir leader roles at the Salvation Army in Luton and Milton Keynes and later became Musical Director of a choir in Hitchin, Herts, before moving to Parkside Singers in Ampthill. Following her relocation to The Midlands, she was appointed Musical Director of the Hinckley Choral Union in September 2021 and also Musical Director of the Heart of England Singers in September 2023. Michelle will be accompanied at the piano by James Banville, a close family friend, who is a professional pianist and organist. Their programme will include 'My Dearest Dear' from The Dancing Years by Ivor Novello,'So in Love' from Kiss Me, Kate by Cole Porter, 'None but the Lonely Heart' by Tchaikovsky, 'So Deep is the Night' based on a melody by Frederic Chopin together with songs by Robert Schumann, Roger Quilter and John Rutter. James will also play a piano solo from the classical repertoire. Their lunchtime concert for SMARTS (St. Mary's Arts) is at St. Mary's Church, Hinckley on Wednesday 2nd October starting at 1pm lasting about 50 minutes. Admission on the door is £4.50 for adults and £1 for children and students.
