There's a range of opportunities for people to play their part
Friendly and enthusiastic volunteers are being sought to play a vital role at the Century Theatre in Coalville.
Volunteers carry out a wide range of roles at the theatre and the venue is appealing for people to come forward and find out more about the opportunities.
The roles available are:
- General – including front of house, ushering, car park duties and special projects if interested, such as refurbishing parts of the theatre, raising awareness of the theatre and its programme and preserving the theatre’s fascinating history
- Technical – lighting, sound, assisting in the control room, rigging equipment, setting up for shows, keeping up to date with latest technology
- Stage manager – including organising and looking after the running of shows, liaising with the technical team and front of house to ensure it’s alright on the night
- Community outreach – working with community groups to bring them into the theatre
Volunteers are a vital part of the life of the Century Theatre and I would like to thank them for the huge contribution that they make.
Person:Councillor Richard Blunt, cabinet member for heritage, leisure and arts
There is a dedicated and committed team of volunteers at the theatre, using their skills and giving their time for a project that is close to their hearts. I would encourage anyone who is thinking about volunteering - for as little or as much time as they would like - to get in touch with the Century Theatre team.
Sam and some of the volunteers will also be on hand to answer any questions about volunteering at the theatre’s two open days. These are taking place on Sunday 9 and Sunday 16 September, as part of the national Heritage Open Day.
