VOLUNTEERS from Hinckley and Bosworth have been recognised at a special event held at Hinckley Rugby Club.

The Making a Difference awards, which are sponsored by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council,  recognise the contribution that volunteers play in strengthening the community and improving the quality of life for residents.

Councillor Keith Lynch, Executive Member for the Voluntary and Community Sector at the Borough Council, said: “These awards recognise contributions from some of the many individuals and groups who work tirelessly to assist others who may be more vulnerable or less fortunate - quite simply making life better for our community.”

Matthew Chilvers, the BBC East Midlands Unsung Hero 2018, was the guest of honour. Matthew told the audience about what inspires him to give his time as a tennis coach, and what it was like to be on the stage at the BBC Sports Personality 2018 Awards representing the East Midlands.
