The barn is storing approximately 100 tonnes of straw.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue received an emergency call at 08:52 this morning to report a barn fire on Whittington Lane in Thornton.
When the crew arrives they found a 40m x 16m single-storey barn in flames and the Incident Commander requested two further fire engines to assist.
Fire engines from Coalville, Shepshed, Birstall, Castle Donington went to the scene as well as a Water Carrier and officers from Loughborough.
Inside the barn, they found approx 100 tonnes of straw and farm machinery.
