Put the date in your diary for mid-August
Preparations are well underway for this year’s Bosworth Medieval Festival.
The family-friendly festival, which takes place on Saturday, 17 and Sunday, 18 August at the county council's Battlefield Heritage Centre, will see new attractions such as period falconry displays, medieval cooking demonstrations and food tasting, a roving Jester and a medieval puppet show.
As well as two battle re-enactments on each day – including a 20-minute re-creation of the Battle of Bosworth on both afternoons featuring hundreds of re-enactors - there will be large living history encampments in which visitors can explore the art of jousting and archery.
There will also be cannon fire demonstrations, guided tours, author talks, a medieval craft market and hands-on games and competitions for children, as well as entry to the award-winning exhibition and free car parking.
The Medieval Festival is a great event with lots of activities for all the family and one of the highlights of the summer. This year, we're delighted to be able to offer even more for families and people of all ages to enjoy. If you’ve visited the festival before, you will see so much more this year. If you’ve never visited, please come and join us
