The Chief Constable of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland thanked staff for their work on Sunday.

It was a hectic night for the county's police as England lost to Italy in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday night (11th June).

In a tweet by Simon Cole, the Chief Constable, he said handlers received a call every 2 minutes during the game from 6pm to just before 11pm.

This increased to a call a minute from 11pm until 1pm.

Chief Constable Cole said, "Thanks to all @leicspolice who worked across #Leicester #Leicestershire & #Rutland

"Sadly football didn't come home but our @leicspolice team played long after the final whistle."

Meanwhile in Hinckley, the Borough Council said they had been told a number of domestic violence incidents had been reported in the last week.

Leicestershire Police were contacted to provide a figure on arrests made this weekend but were unable to do so.

If you're a victim of domestic violence you can find more information here.
