Albie James Warner was the first baby born during a busy Christmas Day at George Eliot Hospital Maternity Unit.

Proud parents, David and Jenny from Bedworth, were thrilled to be the first parents of Christmas Day.

Albie was delivered by midwives Beth Philps and Helen Neale at 7.27am and weighed 3kg.

Dad, David said: “I would like to thank all of the staff who helped us during the birth of our baby, especially Beth and Helen.

“Both Jenny and I are looking forward to showing off our first baby to all of our family and friends via social media.”

The dedicated and experienced team of staff across the maternity unit, including delivery suite, Drayton Ward, and the special care baby unit, were expecting a busy day with more babies due to arrive over the Christmas break. They had already welcomed 8 babies (3 boys and 5 girls) on Christmas Eve.

All of the babies and their families, born on Christmas Day, received mum and baby gifts to mark the occasion and huge hampers made by clinical support worker, Lisa Kahrman and her friends.
