A group involved in a plot to supply class A drugs across Leicestershire have been sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison.

The group’s crimes were uncovered after a year-long investigation by officers from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU).

During the investigation police seized firearms, knives, cash and mobile phones.

An examination of the phones linked them to the supply of drugs in Hinckley and across the county.

Detective Inspector Lee Hunt, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “The group had a plan in place to supply drugs across both the city and county. I hope that the people of Hinckley, Melton and the wider county can take some relief from the fact that these four people have now been brought to justice and are serving time in prison."

Leicester Crown Court sentenced:

  • Bobat, 26, of Abbey Lane in Leicester, was sentenced to six years and eleven months

  • Mooney, 25, of Millstone Lane in Syston, was sentenced to four years and 10 months years

  • Robson, 46, of Drummond Walk in Melton Mowbray, was sentenced to two years and seven months

  • The 17-year-old, from Leicester, was sentenced to five years and four months years
