Firefighters say it was caused by a chip pan.
Firefighters say a chip pan caused a house fire on Trinity Lane, last weekend which claimed the life of a local man.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three appliances attended the incident, two from Hinckley Fire and Rescue Station and one from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued the male occupant who was trapped inside. Despite our best efforts to resuscitate him, he sadly passed away at the scene."
"This is a terrible tragedy and the thoughts of the Fire and Rescue Service are with the family and friends of the deceased. We are fortunate that this type of tragedy seldom happens."
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service will be present in the local area during the next few days to provide reassurance and advice to residents about how they can avoid a similar scenario from happening to them.
Firefighters will be knocking on doors in the area offering free fire safety advice on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th February in the area of Trinity Lane in Hinckley.
Police previously confirmed to Fosse 107 the fire was not suspicious.
