How the lockdown is changing council services in Nuneaton

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have issued a list of changes to public services because of the lockdown.

Council parks remain open along with cemeteries, children’s playgrounds and public toilets. However the borough’s leisure centres, Bedworth Civic Hall, the Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery in Riversley Park, and the Town Hall remain closed. Meetings are available on an appointment basis where other means of resolving the customer’s query cannot be found. 

With very high levels of use of public parks, people are being asked to take their rubbish home with them wherever possible. Additional wheelie bins will be put in place as in previous lockdowns, to help manage the higher than usual numbers of visitors to Riversley Park and Miners’ Welfare Park in Bedworth. 

Waste and recycling services continue as normal, and recycling centres are open for booked appointments. 

The council’s Housing Team and partners in the voluntary sector will be renewing their efforts to ensure that anyone found sleeping rough is found a place to stay. They will also continue to provide support to those in temporary accommodation.   

Finance and business support teams are on stand-by to process the new lockdown grants to be made available to businesses in retail, hospitality and leisure. Details of how to access this funding will be available shortly, with up to date information available online. 

Planning and licensing services are also continuing to operate as normal a service as possible in the current circumstances.
