In June 2023 there were over 6,000 more 999 calls made than in June 2022.
In June 2023 Leicestershire Police received the most ever emergency 999 calls in a month.
Over the month, they had 22,378 emergency calls, versus 20,087 calls in May, which is an 11% increase.
In June 2022, they received 15,840 emergency calls.
The non-emergency 101 calls are also increasing as 27,978 calls were received in June 2023 which was 1,609 more than in May.
Leicestershire Police said: "The same team of dedicated contact handlers answer our 999 and 101 calls in our contact centre, which is why you may sometimes need to wait to speak to us on 101.
"As our call volumes continue to increase, we need your help to keep our phone lines clear for emergencies.
