Knife amnesty bin travelling round this week to make 'streets a safer place'

In Nuneaton, anonymous surrender bins will be at the police station daily.

As part of #OpSceptre police forces across the county will be using amnesty bins to encourage people to get rid of unwanted knives.

The bins allow people to dispose of knives, swords or cleavers.

Then in Nuneaton, there will be anonymous surrender bins at the police station from 8am - 6pm.

Throughout the week local policing teams will also be running events to raise awareness of knife crime.

Chief Inspector Karen Jones, safer neighbourhood lead for the county, said: “During the campaign, we are appealing to people who are concerned that a friend or relative might be carrying a knife. 

“Telling someone’s parent that their child is carrying a knife or telling a police officers is so much better than the alternative, which could be seeing them stab someone or seeing them get stabbed.

“There’s plenty of support available to help you have these conversations, so please do it before it is too late.”
