Work has been completed on a major regeneration scheme in Shepshed town centre.

The project, led by Charnwood Borough Council, has seen improvements to pedestrian areas, street furniture, lighting and seating.

Cllr Jewel Miah, Leader of Charnwood Borough Council, said: “I am pleased to see the Shepshed regeneration scheme completed and it has made a huge difference to the town.

“We have worked closely with both Shepshed Town Council and Shepshed Town Team throughout the process and I’m hoping that it will be an improvement for residents, visitors and business owners in Shepshed.”

Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s lead member for economic development, regeneration and town centres added: “Bull Ring and Hall Croft are looking fantastic following on from this work and Shepshed as a whole has really benefited from this scheme.

“The feedback we have received from businesses in Market Place and at Bull Ring has been hugely positive and I hope to see Shepshed thrive for years to come.”

In Market Place, a larger pedestrianised area was created with pavements widened in some areas. New seating, cycle parking facilities and planting have been added and Brook Street has been realigned and a 20mph zone created.
