Residents are asked to book an appointment in advance.

Leicestershire County Council is finalising plans to re-open the remainder of its recycling and household waste sites which have been closed since March.

The council says six more sites will begin to re-open from later this month, starting at Bottesford on Thursday 30th July, with time-slots available to book online from Friday 17th July.

Sites at Kibworth and Coalville will re-open on Monday 3rd August and Tuesday 4th August respectively, with online bookings for both sites available from Friday 24th July.

Lutterworth's waste site will re-open from Friday 14th August, the Loughborough site from Saturday 15th August and Somerby from Sunday 16th August. Online bookings for all three sites will be made available from Friday 31st July.

All sites require residents to book an appointment in advance.

The council says a booking system, which has been in operation for the sites already open, will help ensure queuing is kept to a minimum, and residents can safely use the sites without delay.

Councillor Trevor Pendleton, cabinet member for waste disposal said: "We’d like to thank residents for their understanding and patience during this time.

We appreciate that, in some situations, people have had to travel further than they normally would to dispose of their waste - and these further re-openings will help this situation.

We are continuing to monitor government guidance closely to ensure we can offer a safe and resilient service going forward."

Barwell, Lount, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Mountsorrel, Oadby and Whetstone sites re-opened in mid-May.

The council says these sites will continue to be open for the extended period of seven days a week, with the Shepshed site continuing to open for five days a week, including weekends.  These arrangements will be subject to change as more sites re-open.
