A brand-new nature-themed playground has opened at Burbage Common.

The new play equipment is for children aged 2-13.

Executive Member for Parks and Open Spaces at the Borough Council, Councillor Lynda Hodgkins said: “We’re delighted to open the new Burbage Common play area, just in time for the beginning of the school holidays. It’s been great to see so many happy faces enjoying the new equipment, which has been designed to fit in with the beautiful common landscape. From traditional swings and climbing nets to interactive and accessible equipment, there’s something for all children to enjoy here this summer.”

The playground now has a spider’s web climbing net, a Leda carousel, a large swing set – which includes a nest swing – and rocking play.

Children can also hide in the Burbage toddler playhouse, which features a slide and interactive panels, or explore the sensory toys, music play and much more.

There is also nature-themed surfacing, shaped like leaves and flowers, and a range of accessible equipment, including a stand-up seesaw, and a picnic table with wheelchair access.

The new equipment cost £95,000 and was funded by developer contributions and installed by Eibe Play Ltd.
