Nuneaton Market is planned to reopen on Wednesday 24th June and Bedworth Market planned to re-open from Tuesday 16th June.

There will be a new layout to support social distancing measures.

Meanwhile Nuneaton Town is also preparing to welcome back shoppers.

In line with the relaxation of Covid-19 lockdown measures issued by central Government, non-essential retail stores will be able to open from Monday 15th June.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is implementing a number of measures designed to help maintain social distancing.

These include the introduction of a marked two way pedestrian movement system throughout the core town centres areas, pavement stickers to assist social distancing and town centre Ambassadors to provide support and guidance.

The pedestrian area of both town centres will be closed to all traffic movement between 9am and 6pm to help provide a safe pedestrian area and support the measures to be put in place. The Borough Council is working in partnership with Warwickshire County Council on traffic management to ensure the system is safe for pedestrians and road users.

All car parks and public toilets will be open from Monday, with the exception of Harefield Road Car Park which is still being used periodically to support Covid-19 mobile testing.

Some shops are offering appointment systems for a one-to-one approach or takeaway / delivery services and may need to be contacted in advance.

Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said: “We are delighted to be able to reopen our town centres and have worked hard at implementing measures to support businesses and ensure the safety of all visitors. We would like to reassure people that we continue to follow Government guidelines around Coronavirus and that public safety as well as that of our staff remains our utmost priority.”
