Nearly £900,000 has been awarded to the Nuneaton Town Centre project that will regenerate the former Co-op store.

The project is part of the Transforming Nuneaton initiative which is aiming to improve the longer term prospects of the town centre.

The government cash will go towards refurbishing the upper floors of the former Co-op art deco building in Queens Road.

It'll provide office/workshop space to accommodate and support new, creative and innovative businesses in the town centre.

The Council will have to procure a contractor to undertake the works to the upper floors first which will take place in this financial year.

Councillor Julie Jackson - Leader of the Council said: “This award is most welcome as it helps the start-up of this project which will benefit both the residents of the Borough and those further afield, with the creation of up to 30 jobs to support micro and small to medium sized enterprises which will bring prosperity to the Town Centre.
