Nuneaton vaccination site welcomes its 2000th patient in under two weeks

The site at the Puregym inside the Ropewalk opened on the 8th March and hopes to see another 3000 jabs available for use in the coming week.

Jean Robinson, from Hinckley, was the lucky 2000th patient. She had only just become eligible for the vaccine on Thursday 18th March and had was able to get an appointment the following Saturday.

Living with her elderly mother, Jean is happy knowing that there is less chance of her infecting her mum now that they have both had their vaccines.

"She's 86 and has some health problems so I feel like she's really safe now that we've both had it done. 

"It's the biggest relief for me."

The site was busy all weekend according to Crest Pharmacy, who run the centre on behalf of the NHS.

Queues were spotted outside the gym on Saturday.

However Jean said her experience was quick and painless.

"I was probably checked in within two minutes, three or four minutes wait and then I had my jab.

"I'd say I was in and out in ten minutes, having my photo taken added time on...

"I think they (vaccinators) are doing a fantastic job."

When asking how she was reacting to the Astrazenica jab, she said she didn't feel a thing and has had no side effects.

Naturally she's encouraged everyone to get their jab as soon as its offered to them.

"If we all hesitated and said we're not having it done I don't like to think where we'll be in six month. We certainly wouldn't going out anywhere", she said.

The site will run until at 13th June.
