The Pingles newly resurfaced athletics track in Nuneaton has reopened on restricted hours.

Numbers for track sessions will be limited, and they will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Pingles facility have introduced sanitiser gel dispensers at the entry and exit points, as well as by the toilets. Both of the toilets have also been fully redecorated and deep cleaned.

Resurfacing works on the track was completed late last week and the facility is being ran by volunteers from the Nuneaton Harriers Athletics Club.

Since taking over day to day operations in 2014, the Nuneaton Harriers Community Association have grown membership, activity delivery, school athletics and major events for the Borough.

Nick Wilson - Nuneaton Harriers Athletics Club, Stadium Manager said: “The partnership working with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council continues to support athletics development at the track. As lockdown restrictions ease, it will be great to see the public making use of the new improved track surface.

“We also hope to encourage more people to get involved in other activities and opportunities the Harriers Club offers.”

Cllr Ian Lloyd, Portfolio Holder for Arts and Leisure said: “The Council is committed in investing in leisure and recreational facilities to support health, well-being and enjoyment for all. We only have one facility of this nature in our Borough and we are keen to work with our partners to help maintain the facility and provide high quality leisure provision for all users.”
