Warwickshire Police are asking people to keep 999 free for emergencies.
They are expecting an extremely busy weekend their our control room for 999 and 101 calls - with a combination of the football, the weather, and general increases in demand as lockdown restrictions have reduced.
Rain is forecast in Nuneaton which means pubs and restaurants are likely to be busy indoors, especially with the Euro 2020 final on Sunday evening. However if it is warm then this can present its own challenges.
They have issued guidance about when and and who to call if you need help:
- If it’s not 999, go online
- 999 – if a crime is in progress, if there is threat/danger to life, serious collision/blockage on the road
- Non-emergency crimes and collisions can be reported via our website
- 101 reports and online crime reporting are priority assessed in the same way
- If you accidently call 999, please stay on the line rather than hanging up. You won’t be in trouble, and this helps our call handlers to ensure everything is ok rather than needing to call back.
Last month Warwickshire Police reported that they'd received the most 999 calls in a single day in three years.
