One of Loughborough’s beauty spots has been awarded a prestigious Green Flag for the eleventh year running.

Loughborough’s Queen’s Park, which is managed by Charnwood Borough Council and its open spaces contractor idverde, has achieved the national standard of excellence once again.

The Forest Road Green Belt Gardeners in Loughborough also received a Green Flag Community Award for creating and managing wildlife areas in the town.

Cllr Jenny Bokor, lead member for Loughborough said: “I’m delighted Queen’s Park has once again been awarded a Green Flag.

“This award celebrates the hard work and dedication in maintaining green spaces to a high standard. As well as a beautiful green space, the park has lots to offer to visitors including a museum, play area and the Carillon Tower.

“Thank you goes to our partners idverde and the volunteers at Friends of Queen’s Park for their hard work in ensuring Queen’s Park retained its Green Flag.

“We should also congratulate everyone involved in the Green Belt Gardeners who do some fantastic work for the benefit of others.”

The green flag scheme is run by Keep Britain Tidy and recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces in the UK and worldwide.
