Hinckley's MP is looking to find the best local cafe in the constituency.

Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, is calling for residents to support local business owners and nominate their favourite café.

The short survey asks people to give the name of their favourite café located in the Parliamentary constituency of Hinckley and Bosworth, which now includes villages such as Oakthorpe, Donisthorpe, Appleby Magna, Acresford, Chilcote and more, and gives the responder an opportunity to share a brief overview of why that café gets their vote.

The local MP ran a similar competition at the start of the year to find Hinckley and Bosworth’s favourite pub.

Over 1,000 nominations were received, naming more than 70 different local pubs, with Hinckley’s New Plough Inn, the Red Lion at Barlestone and Elbow Room in Hinckley being the three pubs with the greatest number of nominations.

Over 500 nominations for ‘Hinckley and Bosworth’s favourite café’ were made within the first 48 hours of the launch of the competition, but Dr Luke is keen to make sure as many in the community have their say.

The survey will close at the end of the month and only cafés in the Hinckley and Bosworth constituency will be considered for the award.

Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, said “We have so many wonderful cafés across our community, many of which are small businesses run by local people.

“Running a small business like this is a challenge, especially in difficult economic times, but the cafés in our community offer so much more than just a place for food and drink.

“Many cafés across Hinckley and Bosworth provide a place for families and friends to come together, support community groups and help to battle loneliness, and for that they deserve our respect and recognition.

“Please do give 30-60 seconds of your time to nominate your favourite local café. And if you need to visit a few to decide which café gets your vote, I'm sure they'd be grateful to see you!”
