Special service at Coventry Cathedral for Baby Loss Awareness Week

The organisers want the event to help victims feel less alone.

Healthcare partners in Coventry and Warwickshire are holding an event to support Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October 2021).

On Sunday 10th September at 2pm they are holding a service at Coventry Cathedral for anyone who has ever been affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

Clea Harmer, Chief Executive of Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity), said: “We hope that this year’s event at Coventry Cathedral will help start more conversations about pregnancy and baby loss, and by doing so help bereaved parents and families feel more able to talk about their babies and find ways to look after themselves and others.”

After the service people are invited to bring their own picnic to the lawn outside, where they will have the opportunity to meet the organisers and other families.

There will also be an opportunity after the service to chalk hearts on the floor of the Cathedral Ruins.

Organisers of the event said: “We hope our beautiful and uplifting event will help those who have been affected feel more connected and less alone. We want to support families to help to break the silence and talk openly about baby loss.”
