Officers are appealing for witnesses as a woman was sexually assaulted.
A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with a rape on the Coventry canal towpath in Nuneaton.
The woman in her 20s is understood to have entered the towpath by Borough Way and was heading in the direction of Frank Street when she was approached by an unknown man.
The man is believed to have pushed her into a nearby bush where he raped her.
The suspect then continued walking along the towpath with the victim before pushing her into a second bush and sexually assaulting her.
On Thursday (30th June) afternoon a 17-year-old boy from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of rape. He remains in police custody at this time.
Detective Inspector Owen Fell said: "This was an incredibly nasty incident for the victim and we’re providing her with all the support we can at this time.
“A thorough investigation has begun to establish exactly what happened and we’re looking for anyone who was walking along the towpath between 6.30pm and 7.15pm to get in touch.
“It’s believed a couple may have stopped to talk to the man as he was walking with the woman and we’re particularly keen to speak to them.
“We also understand some members of the public and dog walkers may have passed the man and woman so we would encourage them to make contact if they can help."
Anyone with information that could help our ongoing investigation can report it online, call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 106 of 28 June.
