Business leaders from Nuneaton and Bedworth met last Friday morning (30th June) to explore new opportunities for economic growth across the borough.

They were joined by the new West Midlands Major, Andy Street, who shares the ambition to make the region the fastest growing economy in the UK.

The breakfast meeting at Nuneaton Golf Club on 30 June was organised by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Warwickshire County Council and the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP Growth Hub. Contributions were made by Terry Spall of Horiba-MIRA and Lisa Garley-Evans of Holland and Barrett.

Dennis Harvey, Leader of NBBC said:

“Our borough is home to some major national and international businesses and it was truly inspiring to see the force of ambition in the room. We’re all absolutely determined that this borough will realise its full potential in terms of economic growth.

“Those already doing business in Nuneaton and Bedworth know that the borough is a superb business location and ideally placed to take advantage of the new opportunities presented to the West Midlands.

”Our event was a great success as a means of building stronger business networks within the Borough and I’m really grateful for the support shown by everyone attending.”

Andy Street, West Midlands Mayor said:

“We want the West Midlands to be the best place in the UK to do business, we’re on a mission to restore pride in the region and make our £80bn economy the fastest growing in Britain.

“The new delegated powers given to the Combined Authority have given us the power to make real and lasting change, to set our own direction and destiny without limitation.

“There’s a real buzz of excitement across the whole of the West Midlands and it’s really strong here in Nuneaton and Bedworth. The Borough is well situated within the logistics golden triangle and has great transport links, it’s a superb business location.”

Gareth Edwards of CWLEP GrowthHub was delighted with the strength of support for the event.

“We have some major high profile businesses within Nuneaton and Bedworth and it’s wonderful that our event has been so well supported.

The Borough has an enviable strategic location and it’s one of the most affordable locations in the UK to start a business.

“There’s lots of support for business here too; we work closely with the Borough and County Councils to provide targeted, specialist support to both established businesses and start-ups. There’s so much opportunity here for anyone wishing to set up business.”
