This January, workplaces across Hinckley and Bosworth are being urged to introduce more physical activity into the working day by taking part in the Active Workplace Challenge.
Workplace Challenge is a free programme that allows everyone to log activity, win points and track their physical activity levels. It provides all users with the chance to try new sports and activities including the offline competition programme which is great for workplaces to enjoy a social opportunity with their colleagues, as well as getting involved in a range of sports. This can be through mass events such as the Business Games or more niche activities such as volleyball.
The focus of the challenge this year is to do at least three lots of 10 minute activities during the working day which can lead to many benefits for both employees and employers. These include;
- Improved mood
- Boost in concentration
- Increase communication
- Improved productivity
- Reduced sick leave
Chirag Ruda, the Borough Council’s Health Improvement Officer explained: “There are already 318 local employees engaged with Workplace Challenge from 41 businesses in Hinckley and Bosworth and this year we want even more people to take up the Challenge. I’d urge everyone to make sure they log their activity points because spot prizes are frequently awarded for taking part. Whatever your choice of activity, it all helps to create a healthier workplace and a healthier you.
“It’s never been easier to log activities with the use of Fitbit’s, when your Fitbit is linked with your Workplace Challenge account, your figures will automatically be uploaded when you sync your devices.”
