Residents have been voicing concerns about speeding in various areas of the town.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council has set aside £10,000 in a bid to tackle speeding in areas of Hinckley.

The funds will pay for a digital sign (an MVAS box) which tells drivers their speed as well as recording the data.

Councillor Michael Mullaney, the Executive Member for Community Safety, said: "This funding will help to cover more areas that have been highlighted as areas of concern by residents. This means that data can be collected on a regular basis and, if further action is needed, we can liaise with the county council to tackle the speeding issues in that area."

Residents across Hinckley have been voicing concerns about speeding in various areas of the town including Roston Drive, Ashby Road, Brookdale, Clifton Way, Coventry Road, Outlands Drive, Glenbarr Drive, Barwell Lane, Leicester Road, Middlefield Lane, Nutts Lane, Southfield Road and Wykin Road.

As the new sign will be portable it means it will be able to be used in different locations to tackle the crime across the town.

Inspector Jamie Osborne, Hinckley and Blaby Neighbourhood Policing Area Commander, said: "It is imperative that the police work in conjunction with our partners at Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) to tackle issues of speeding. Speeding remains a priority for the police and I am grateful to HBBC for making further investment in a MVAS box. The data received will assist the police in being able to target certain locations at the right time to assist in casualty reduction."
