The temporary COVID-19 clinic is being held at Hinckley Leisure Centre, from 15:15 – 19:15.

Young people, aged 12-15, from Hinckley and the surrounding areas, can get their COVID-19 vaccine at a specialist clinic today.

It is for young people who can't get the vaccine at school or might have missed their school vaccination day.

Vaccinators administering the vaccine are all specially trained to work with young people and strict safeguarding protocols will be followed.

Young people attending will be offered a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Parents and guardians are advised to attend the vaccination with their children so consent can be obtained.

Kay Darby, deputy director of the vaccination programme for the Leicestershire and Rutland CCGs, said: “This temporary clinic provides young people and their parents from the Hinckley area with a convenient option to get the protection of the COVID-19 vaccine at a clinic close to home.

“The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective for people in this age group. It will help to protect young people from the virus – as well as their family and friends - and help to prevent disruption to their education this winter.”

Both pre-booked and book on arrival appointments are available.
