80th anniversary of D-Day was marked with a beacon lighting in Queens Park in Loughborough
Charnwood has marked 80 years since D-Day with a special beacon lighting event at Queen’s Park in Loughborough.
It took place on Thursday, June 6 with a host of activities taking place, the lighting of the beacon took place at around 9.15pm.
The Beacon located in Queen’s Park was one of thousands up and down the country lit to mark 80 years since the Allied invasion during the Second World War.
Loughborough resident and Territorial Army Major, Jane Bryson, was selected to light the beacon following a competition organised by the town council.
