Bird flu has not yet been confirmed.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have sent a dozen dead birds for bird flu testing.

The birds were found at the wildlife park The Nook in Bedworth.

Cllr Julian Gutteridge, the portfolio holder for health and environment at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said: “We are aware of reports of a number of birds found dead at The Nook in Bedworth. We have informed the appropriate agencies, and the bodies will be removed for testing for bird flu. I must emphasise that as yet the presence of this dangerous disease is not confirmed.

“However, this case is another reminder that we all need to stay safe by keeping away from any dead birds that we may see in our parks or open water. We also need everyone who keeps birds to continue to follow government advice and keep them safe. Any member of the public can report dead birds they find to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) on 03459 33 55 77.
