Police in Leicestershire are investigating another ATM theft in Lutterworth after a number of similar incidents recently.
Detectives are continuing to investigate after cash was stolen from a cash machine in Lutterworth on Friday 8th September.
Thieves targeted the machine on the wall of the Co-op in Linden Drive at about 3.40am, forcing their way into the premises before using a gas canister to open the ATM and stealing cassettes containing money from inside.
The cassettes were subsequently recovered earlier this morning after a member of the public reported finding them discarded in Church Lane in Gilmorton.
Significant damage was caused to the premises during the incident.
Witnesses have reported seeing several men fleeing the scene in what has been describes as a dark coloured saloon type car which drove off in the direction of Holly Drive.
The investigation is in its early stage and officers are in the process of reviewing CCTV and conducting initial enquiries at the scene.
A cordon is in place around the premises to allow for a forensic search of the area.
Police have not linked this cash machine thefts with other thefts at Stoney Stanton and Ashby in recent months.
