Borough Council takes action against nuisance neighbours

Magistrates found them guilty of playing loud music at an unacceptable level.

A prosecution has been made of a nuisance Nuneaton tenant after magistrates found them guilty of playing loud music at an unacceptable level and causing noise disruption.

The tenant of the property at Vernon’s Court in Vernon’s Lane, Nuneaton was fined £684.00, consisting of a £440 fine, victim surcharge of £44.00 and £200.00 prosecution costs.

A noise abatement notice was served in October 2019 after loud music was witnessed emanating from the tenant’s property by officers from the Environmental Health Team. 

Further complaints were subsequently received and the occupants were reminded that the noise abatement notice was still in force. 

Despite the reminders, the occupants continued to breach the notice, with incidents witnessed by Environmental Health Officers three times in October 2019.  

Following the second breach, the Borough Council made application for a warrant from Nuneaton Magistrates Court to enter the property and confiscate audio equipment from the address.

Most residents are very considerate of their neighbours, it is a shame that a small number choose not to adjust their behaviour when they are notified of their inappropriate and unlawful actions.”
