Britain in Bloom judges tour Loughborough’s open spaces

Loughborough has represented the region at the national awards three times before in 2014, 2016 and most recently in 2019 where they achieved gold.

Britain in Bloom judges visited Loughborough today.

The town has been chosen to represent the region in the small city category at the national awards which are organised by the Royal Horticultural Society.

This is the fourth time in the last ten years that the town has been selected for the Britain in Bloom awards.

Loughborough in Bloom has been awarded the highest accolade at the East Midlands in Bloom awards for twelve consecutive years.

Pat Cook, chair of Loughborough in Bloom, said: “I am so pleased that Loughborough in Bloom has been chosen to represent the region in the national awards and huge credit needs to go to our board members and volunteers that work tirelessly throughout each year.”

Charnwood Borough Council’s open spaces partner, idverde, refuse partner Serco and volunteers and community groups from across Loughborough help to look after some of the open spaces, parks, and nature reserves in the town.

Loughborough will find out if they have carried on their success at the Britain in Bloom awards ceremony in October 2024.

Cllr Anne Gray, the Council’s lead member for open spaces, said: “It was great to welcome the judges to the town for the Britain in Bloom awards.

“A massive well done to the Loughborough in Bloom board, volunteers and our partners, idverde and Serco who help maintain our open spaces across Charnwood.

“Being selected is a huge achievement and it is testament to the hard work that goes into making our open spaces look their very best.”

Loughborough will find out if they have carried on their success at the Britain in Bloom awards ceremony in October 2024.
