Garden waste will not be collected in Hinckley & Bosworth from 23rd-30th July

Garden waste collections in Hinckley and Bosworth will not take place next week because of staff shortages.

The council blamed the rising numbers of drivers and crew told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace and the national shortage of HGV drivers.

The garden waste service will be suspended from Friday 23 July to Friday 30 July inclusive.

The council says it hopes by suspending garden waste collections, all residential (black bin) and recycling (blue lidded bins) rounds will be completed in full as normal.

Last week, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough council took a similar decision because of staffing issues.

Bill Crooks, the Borough Council's Executive Member for Street Scene Services, said:
“Unfortunately, a significant number of our waste collection crews have received notification from the NHS test and trace service to self-isolate, this alongside isolation due to family members contracting coronavirus means that it will not be possible to deploy a full collection service.
This is not a decision taken lightly and those affected will have their garden service extended by one week to cover this disruption. These are exceptional circumstances and I would like to thank residents for their patience.”
