Two others also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods.

Three local men who were involved in facilitating stolen vehicles have been sentenced.

In December 2020 officers searched Matthew Newall’s home in Burbage and a site he was associated with in Leicester Forest East.

At this time, Newall was also on court bail for similar offences.

Newall, 30, of Freemans Lane, Burbage, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to receive stolen goods between July and December 2020.  He pleaded guilty to the offence in October 2021.

On Thursday (17 February) Newall was sentenced to four years in prison for the offence.

During the investigation, two other men who were involved in receiving stolen vehicles were identified.

Anthony Ledeatt, 60, of Desford Road, Thurlaston, and Grant Vernon, 29, of Ronald Toon Road, Earl Shilton – pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods at a hearing in December last year.

Ledeatt was sentenced to three months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months and Vernon was sentenced to a community order.

CCTV evidence showed Ledeatt and Vernon’s pulling into service stations and refuelling the stolen vehicles before driving them across the country on false plates.
