'We have received a number of reports concerning drug activity and anti-social behaviour at this address in recent months.'

A full closure order has been obtained by police for a property in Loughborough following drug and anti-social behaviour concerns.

The order was granted at Loughborough Magistrates’ Court for a flat in Russell Street on the grounds that a person had engaged in anti-social behaviour on the premises and that the use of the premises is associated with significant and persistent disorder or persistent serious nuisance to members of the public.

Inspector David Stokes, Neighbourhood Policing Area Commander for Charnwood, said: “We have received a number of reports concerning drug activity and anti-social behaviour at this address in recent months.

“It is completely unacceptable and has affected the lives and wellbeing of residents living nearby.

“By obtaining this order, we have taken the necessary action to prevent it from continuing and I would like to thank the local community for the information that they have passed on to us, which has allowed this order to be granted.”

The order will remain in place for three months.

Councillor James Poland, Charnwood Borough Council’s lead member for public housing added: “I’m pleased we have been able to support police colleagues with successfully securing this closure order.

“We have a duty of care to protect residents and clearly the behaviour at this property was unacceptable.

“Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated in or around Council properties and we are committed to working with our partners to make our communities safer.”
