Still time to qualify for support towards waste prevention, recycling or composting
There's still time for community groups and organisations across Leicestershire to apply for a grant to help tackle household waste and boost recycling.
Leicestershire County Council is offering Shire recycling grants of up to £3,000 for organisations and community-based projects to deliver local waste prevention, recycling or composting activities.
Community groups, charities, town and parish councils, social enterprises, schools, colleges and universities can all apply for the money, with applications for the current round of funding closing on Friday, 28th September 2018.
Activities should support county residents and communities to reduce, reuse or recycle, and could include food waste cafés, clothes swaps, second-hand toy libraries, community composting, repair cafés or upcycling events to give old, damaged or unwanted items a new lease of life.
We want organisations to come forward to make a difference in their community. The grant will hopefully help to reduce household waste, divert waste from disposal and make the best use of recycling, re-use and composting in a cost-effective way, while bringing Leicestershire communities together
