Council chooses new Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth

Last year's Mayor Making ceremony was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the Borough Council's annual meeting, dignitaries paid tribute to the outgoing Mayor Cllr Lynda Hodgkins and welcomed the new Mayor Councillor Ted Hollick who represents Groby Ward for the Liberal Democrats.

Cllr Hodgkins had served as Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth for two years, due to the delay. Mayors normally serve for just 12 months.

The ceremony took place at Hinckley Rugby Club, in order to comply with social distancing requirements.  

Cllr Hollick was first elected to the Borough Council in 2015.  He has been married to his wife Ann for 48 years and the couple have three children and four grandchildren.

During his year, Cllr Hollick will be raising funds for Cancer Research UK, MacMillan Cancer Support, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and the Dogs Trust.

His chaplain will be Reverend Noel Colley of St Philip and St James Churches in Ratby and Groby.

Away from the council, Cllr Hollick enjoys photography and he used to enjoy singing with the Leicester Male Voice Choir.  

Councillor Dawn Glenville was chosen as the Deputy Mayor and her Consort will be Mr Barry Walker.
