Cyclist dies in Loughborough crash

A man in his 40s has died after a crash on Friday in Loughborough.

Officers were called shortly after 8pm (7 July) to Ling Road. A cyclist, a man in his forties, was seriously injured and despite the efforts of East Midlands Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance, he died at the scene.

A silver Audi S3, which was also believed to have been involved in the collision, was reported to have left the scene. A vehicle matching this description was subsequently later found on fire in Frederick Street and has been recovered by police.

Following enquiries carried out a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a 40-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The 29-year-old man has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries while the two arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released under investigation.

Officers would like to thank those who have already been in touch with information however we are still continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision, anyone with dashcam from the area at that time, or anyone who saw the silver Audi S3 before or following the collision.
