The victim’s heart stopped several times on his journey to hospital by ambulance.

A man called “extremely dangerous” by Warwickshire Police has been jailed for up to 11-and-a-half years for stabbing another man seven times.

On the 12th of January, officers responded to a report that Luke Ryan was threatening members of the public with a knife in Meadow Street, Nuneaton.

When officers went to search Ryan’s house in Norman Avenue they found the victim – a man in his 40s – with stab wounds to his back and neck. One of the wounds had punctured his lung.

Detective Constable Cole Shanks from Nuneaton CID said: “Ryan is an extremely dangerous man who subjected his victim to a horrific and sustained attack for which he has offered no explanation.

“The victim continues to suffer both mentally and physically from the attack and I hope this conviction provides him with some form of closure.”

The victim’s heart stopped several times on his journey to hospital by ambulance.

While he was being questioned Ryan also threatened to kill the interviewing officer.

Ryan, 25, pleaded guilty to section 18 wounding with intent, affray, possession of a knife in a public place, common assault and three counts of threats to kill. He was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court today.

Ryan will serve eight-and-a-half years of his sentence before serving a further three years on licence.
