Charnwood Borough Council has issued a statement after none of its Leisure Centres reopened following a change in Government rules.
The statement said:
"We are working with our partner Fusion, which operates the leisure centres on behalf of the Council, about reopening the leisure centres in Charnwood in the coming weeks.
"We are planning to reopen the health and fitness facilities at Soar Valley Leisure Centre in week commencing August 3 and at South Charnwood Leisure Centre in week commencing August 10. We are working on plans to reopen Loughborough Leisure Centre.
"Subject to Cabinet approval on August 13, it is proposed to reopen the health and fitness facilities at Loughborough and swimming pools at all three sites. However, there are significant financial implications for the Council and therefore it will need a Cabinet decision.
"We will confirm reopening dates as soon as we can.
"We recognise the importance of staying healthy and active and that’s why we are keen to reopen the leisure centres as soon as possible."
Fusion will be confirming details around booking and the procedures they have put in place to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable visit.
Anthony Cawley, director of operations at fusion, said: “We know our leisure facilities are really important for the health and well-being of the local community and we want them open again as soon as they are safe and viable. Therefore, we are so pleased our doors are beginning to open again and together with Charnwood Borough Council, we hope our customers will bear with us whilst we implement our re-opening plans and they can soon enjoy their centres once again.”
