Do you recognise this stolen jewellery?

Two men posing as police officers have stolen two thousand pounds in cash and hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery from a home in Loughborough.

It happened in Bates Close, just off Maxwell Drive, on Tuesday 20th November at around 7pm. Police said the occupants were in the house at the time and they were threatened with a screwdriver. 

The two men were spotted in the garden of the property and said they were police officers. 

No one was injured in the incident but around £2000 in cash and a large quantity of Asian jewellery, including those in the pictures, was stolen.

Keys to a BMW that was not at the address were also taken.

The man holding the screwdriver has been described as white, around 5ft 8ins, large build, with an Eastern European accent. He was wearing a grey hat, grey jumper and grey gloves with a dark mask covering his face.

The two men spoke to each other in a different language and both left the address on foot.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Gemma Dempsey, said: “This ordeal was incredibly frightening for the family. They were threatened in their own home and had to stand by while two men stole from them.

“What is also worrying for us is these two men initially pretended to be police officers so we urgently want to catch them before they use this as a tactic to target other people.

“If you were around the Bates Close area of Loughborough at the time of the burglary and saw anything or have seen the jewellery in the photo for sale please make contact. Information you have could help with our enquiries.”
