Empty home owners invited to free event to unlock property’s potential

Owners of empty homes in Charnwood are being invited to a drop-in surgery to help them unlock the potential of their properties on Thursday 14th Nov.

The free event has been organised by Charnwood Borough Council who can help to get empty homes back into use by offering advice and support to property owners.

Cllr Paul Mercer, the Council’s lead member for housing, said “The Empty Homes Drop-in Surgery is a fantastic opportunity for empty property owners to find out what support is available to help get their property back into use again.

“The Council is committed to tackling the issue of empty homes across the borough to help ease the pressure of the local housing market. We also want to ensure properties don’t become a concern for the community.”

“I will be at the event with our empty homes officer and social lettings co-ordinator to offer information on how the Council can support projects.”

The Council can help get empty homes back into use by offering advice and support, including on how to find tenants and get access to discounted selling fees with local agents and auctioneers.

The Council has grants available to part-fund refurbishments and get properties back into use (terms and conditions apply).

The Empty Homes Drop-in Surgery will take place at Ramada Loughborough on Wednesday November 14, 4.30-6.30pm.

There will be a number of information stalls available so people can find about selling options and becoming a private landlord.
