A special outdoor service and parade will be held in Hinckley on Saturday 30 June to enable people to show their support for the Armed Forces.

Now in its tenth year, Armed Forces Day offers everyone a chance to thank the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.

A procession will leave Castle Street outside Cut Price Suites (the former Co-op) at 10.50am and march down Castle Street and into Argents Mead for a service starting at 11.00am. The service will last for around 25 minutes and then the parade will make its way down Castle Street and along Station Road where a formal salute will be taken.

Organised by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and the Hinckley Combined Ex-service Association, the event will include representatives from several regiments, nationalities, sections and services, including the local cadet forces.

All are welcome to attend this free event and honour the current and past serving men and women.

Executive Member for the Borough Council, Councillor Maureen Cook said “it is important to remember and recognise what the men and women in our Armed Forces have done and continue to do for us, particularly as 2018 marks 100 years since the final year of the First World War. I hope that our residents will come and support this special service and parade.”

The Armed forces day flag will also be flown at the Hinckley Hub from Monday 25th June to Monday 2nd July in order to mark this national event.
