Family pays tribute to grandad of four who died following a crash in Nuneaton

Chris Baker was involved in a collision with a lorry last month.

The family of a cyclist who died following a collision with a lorry in Nuneaton she he was a ‘wonderful husband, dad and grandad’.

Chris Baker, aged 71, from Nuneaton died at the scene of the collision on the morning of Friday 18 June.

In a statement his family said:

“We as a family would like to pay tribute to a wonderful husband, dad and grandad who was tragically taken away from us on 18 June 2021.

“Our hearts have been left broken but we take great comfort in knowing he didn’t suffer.

“We have lost the most caring, loving and kindest man, who would do anything for anybody.

“He doted on his four grandchildren; Connor, Tyler, Lexi-Mae and Alyssa-Lilly.

“He was a hardworking man, working for the same company for 37 years and on the side, doing his little paper round, which he loved.

“He has left a massive void in our lives, his work colleagues lives and to all those who knew him.

“He will be in our hearts forever and be greatly missed.

“Thank you for everything Chris, Dad and Grandad, we miss you and love you with all our hearts

“Rose, Sharon, Laura and your Grandchildren.”

A 43-year-old man from Nuneaton remains under investigation having been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs.
