Shoppers in Hinckley will be given a boost this year with free car parking in selected town centre council car parks on Saturdays in the run-up to Christmas.
In a joint initiative sponsored by Hinckley & Bosworth Council (HBBC) and supported by Hinckley BID (Business Improvement District) and North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, the Borough Council will be allowing free parking in Lower Bond Street, Druid Street, Alma Road, Holliers Walk, Trinity Vicarage Road and Thorneycroft Road car parks every Saturday in December in order to thank shoppers for their loyalty and to increase trade for shops and businesses.
The free parking offer applies from 9am on Saturday 1, 8, 15 and 22 December. Shoppers are reminded that parking is free in all council run car parks on Sundays throughout the year.
Shoppers will also be able to park for free in the North Warwickshire and Hinckley College car park every Saturday in December. The car park, which is directly behind the Atkins Building, can be accessed from Druid Street.
Executive Member for Town and Urban Communities at the Borough Council, Cllr Miriam Surtees said: “As everyone knows Saturdays in December are key trading days for retailers and we trust this free offer will make Hinckley an even more attractive destination for Christmas shoppers to support our town centre businesses by shopping local.”
Steve Wegerif, Director of Hinckley BID said: “We are grateful to HBBC and North Warwickshire and Hinckley College for their help and urge shoppers to buy local and take advantage of this cost saving initiative in the run-up to Christmas.”
