Charnwood Borough Council have confirmed that indoor group exercise will return to all three of the Council’s leisure centres from May 17.
To mark the occasion and welcome early morning fitness fans back indoors, a special Body Pump class will be held at 5.45am at Loughborough Leisure Centre, which can be booked from May 13.
The council's sites are South Charnwood, Soar Valley and Loughborough leisure centres
Outdoor group exercise classes at Soar Valley will continue too for those who have been enjoying exercising in the fresh air.
The council said centres will continue to operate in line with government safety guidelines and those planning to visit will still be required to book and pay online, to ensure contact is minimised at each centre and allowing for the track and trace process to be implemented.
Gym users and group exercise participants will be asked to arrive ready to work out, ready to go.
Anthony Cawley, Director of Operations at Fusion said, “It’s a really positive step to be able to restart indoor group exercise classes. We know how popular group exercise is and we’re excited to offer this one-off early class to celebrate the full return of our classes. Our instructors can’t wait to get back to offering the full timetable of classes. We are really pleased that we will be able to continue to offer some outdoor classes too, making sure we’re giving our members as much choice as possible.”
Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, the Council’s lead member for communities and equalities said: “We’re really pleased our leisure centres will safely restart indoor group exercise classes from Monday May 17. This is a positive step for the leisure industry and our residents who have missed going to their favourite exercise classes. The health and wellbeing of residents is a top priority and measures will be in place to ensure people stay safe as we continue along the Government’s roadmap. I’m looking forward to attending a few classes once again myself and would encourage people to book onto classes as soon as possible.”
