Leicester man died in M69 crash

Police say the driver of another vehicle involved remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Police have named a man who died following a collision on the M69 motorway.

The collision happened at about 10am on Tuesday 10th October on the northbound carriageway, between junctions 1 for the A5 at Hinckley and junction 2 for Sapcote. It involved three vehicles, a breakdown recovery truck, a black BMW 1 Series, and a white Transit van.

The driver of the recovery vehicle, 42-year-old Christopher Hadland, from Leicester, died at the scene. 

The driver of the van sustained serious injuries and was taken to the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire where he remains in a stable condition.

The passenger in the recovery vehicle was taken to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire and has since been discharged.
