Rainbows, which is based in Loughborough, wants people across the East Midlands to get moving to help raise much needed funds.
'Miles for Rainbows' is a virtual distance challenge that will run throughout May.
You can complete your miles by stepping, running, walking or any activity in a wheelchair. Distances will be recorded on the 'My Virtual Mission’ app either manually or syncing with an existing app.
You can pick one of two routes – 150 miles or 600 miles.
The 150-mile route, which is equivalent to 10,000 steps a day, takes in some of the major towns and cities of the East Midlands. The 600-mile route roughly follows the boundaries of the counties in the East Midlands. Both can be completed individually or as a team.
Jenny Perry, Rainbows Community Fundraiser, said: “This is the perfect challenge for those wanting to explore the East Midlands without actually venturing far.
“When taking part in Miles for Rainbows we’d love you to fundraise for us. There isn’t a fundraising target for this event but we are grateful for any amount you’re able to raise. Anyone who raises £50 will receive a Rainbows water bottle as an extra thank you.
“Fundraising is so valuable to us; £50 could fund a home visit from a Rainbows nurse, giving respite care to an isolated family and £100 could fund a two-hour music therapy session, providing a space for a child or young person to express themselves.
“We do hope people will sign up and join us during May for this fun challenge.”
Entry is £15 and all participants will receive a special wooden medal once they have completed the challenge. To sign up, click here.
