A man in his 40s died at the scene of the incident on Derby Road
Officers were called at 11.17am to the incident involving a white Citroen van and a black Honda motorcycle near the junction with Warwick Way.
East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
The road closures are affecting the road in both directions near Warwick Way and Dishley Grange
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sadly died at the scene.
No other injuries have been reported.
Leicestershire Police said in a statement:
"Road closures were put in place following the incident and enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances of the collision. Officers are appealing to anyone with any information to make contact.
"Detective Sergeant Ed Des-Chanelle, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are appealing to anyone who saw either vehicle in the area prior to the incident or to anyone who saw the collision to make contact with us. We understand there may be some witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident but have not yet spoken to us – if this is you, please get in touch with us.
“We would also urge anyone who has any dashcam footage from the area at the time to check this and make contact to help us with our ongoing enquiries.”"
